NAWASHI · TEACHER

Tokyo-based kinbakushi (9 May 1963 - 24 November 2025) who refined his craft through private practice and observation; self-taught, and resistant to school labels or dogma. Came into the public scene in his late 40s after years of private tying. Co-ran Bar UBU and Mitsu in Shinjuku with Yoi Yoshida, taught internationally, and co-authored the 2016 manual "You Can Do It Now! How to Tie" with Ranki Kazami. Remembered for fluid, natural rope, signature purple ropes, kotobazeme, dry humor, and a philosophy that treated rope as a language of connection rather than a rigid system.
