1939–present

ILLUSTRATOR

Japanese SM illustrator whose rope and torment imagery became a recognizable part of 1970s-2000s Japanese fetish publishing. Nawapedia records his 1957 apprenticeship under Taiga Utagawa, 1970 debut in SM magazines through Oniroku Dan's Cellar Wife in the first issue of SM Select, a 1972-1973 Flower and Snake run in SM King, later illustration books, and a 2008 Akira Naka DVD-cover credit. WEB Sniper's 2010 Vanilla Gallery notice presents Dark Cherry / 闇桜 as Maeda's first solo exhibition and describes him as indispensable to the pages of SM magazines from the 1970s onward. documented here as a bounded Oniroku Dan / historical publication bridge rather than as a broad art-book fan-out entry.
