Joan von Brook is a Czech rigger.

Prague-based rigger, rope bottom, presenter, performer and teacher; co-founder of Subspace Studio. Active in shibari since 2013 and teaching since 2015, she names Soptik and A-Nicolas / Nicolas Arnoys as her main rigging influences and brings receiver-side experience with Naka-ryu, Nicolas ryu and Tifereth into bottoming education. Subspace's current Nicolas ryu programme identifies Joan as the only teacher in the Czech Republic directly authorized by A-Nicolas to teach the style, with regular study groups and periodic workshops. Her 2026 Consent a já series discusses misunderstandings, communication and consent from her experience as a rope model.
