Shibari Study's 2024 episode says Lu has been involved in the greater Los Angeles kink community since 2017, works across bottoming, topping, sex work and adult entertainment production, and found structured rope through Devil Mask Society. Threshold Education's Bound + Bondage listing says Lu started as a rope bottom in 2015, began learning to tie in 2018, completed Devil Mask Society's 9th Cell program, studied privately during lockdown, and teaches accessible rope education focused on all body types and fundamental principles rather than fixed patterns. MOCA's 2023 KINK OUT / EPHEMERA programme independently frames Lu as a Los Angeles shibari artist and educator in a sex-worker-community panel context.
