RIGGER · TEACHER

Berlin-based kinbaku rigger, researcher, educator and performer behind Discover Kinbaku with Natasha NawaTaNeko. Discover Kinbaku says Alexander and Natasha have tied together since becoming a couple in 2011, offer private classes / coaching in Berlin and international workshops, and founded the Kinbaku Society and its Berlin magazine. Earlier public pages under the NawaRonin name place Alexander in the Warsaw / Poland teaching scene, where his official NawaRonin about page says he founded Shibari Dojo Warsaw, operated it from 2015 to 2019 and resumed education work from 2023 after the Covid break. IKSK describes Alexander Madl as a researcher and kinbaku artist teaching traditional Japanese rope bondage in Berlin and across Europe. Alexander's official profile traces his rope turning point to New Year's Day 2008, then identifies a 2015 introduction to Naka-style semenawa through Scot Kinbaku and Namarié and intensive 2016-2021 study with Riccardo Wildties. Current Discover Kinbaku pages present his Elements System as a staged didactic framework for riggers, combining technique, philosophy, aesthetics, embodiment, movement, communication, limits and consent from first steps to advanced creative expression. Discover Kinbaku frames their work as rooted in semenawa by Akira Naka, with encounters with Naka Akira, Sugiura Norio and Miho Ikeda as key influences; Alexander's Bodies under Pressure concept is a semenawa / somatic-body approach formalized through workshops and a 2025 essay. Public Studio Kokoro listings for Discover Kinbaku use the name Alexander NawaRonin, which is treated here as an alias of the same Berlin / Discover Kinbaku figure rather than a separate person entry. Prague Shibari Festival Spring 2026 lists Alexander MA and Natasha NawaTaNeko as presenters / performers.
